A busy cruise port

Located on the Lower North Shore, Sept-Îles welcomes many cruise ships each year, carrying thousands of tourists who come to visit the area for a stopover.

When Suzanne Cassista, Director of the Destination Sept-Îles Nakauinanu corporation, discovered the project put in place by Promotion Saguenay to welcome its visitors, she decided to adapt it and implement it in Sept-Îles, with the aim of rethinking the way cruise passengers are welcomed to the town.

Personalized support for tourists and locals

The idea was to place several aluminum panels, enhanced with QR codes, at strategic locations in the city, in the colors of the destination. The panels were placed in places where cruise ship shuttles stop over, such as the Nautical Club, museums and the Old Post Office, but above all at the Cruise Terminal to welcome tourists. For each ship, dedicated content has been created with personalized information for D-Day: what to do today, special activities, ship's departure time, important information to know...

By scanning the enhanced panels with their cell phones, visitors can access a wealth of useful information to make the most of their stay in Sept-Îles. An interactive map lists restaurants, tourist services, attractions and events.
